Mac Hay

Registered Psychologist; Associate of the Australian Psychological Society.

Foundation Fellow & Faculty Leader at FBI;
Accredited Family Business Adviser & Forum Facilitator;
Adviser, Facilitator & Family Business Coach

My family operated its own business for more than 50 years, so I grew up absorbing many lessons, even if I didn’t realise it at the time.

Being a glutton for punishment I’ve been running my own consultancy for almost 20 years.

Before that I held senior HR management positions in major companies in the oil and paint industries.

In addition to my work with family businesses I facilitate leadership development programs at the Melbourne Business School.

I’m a strong believer in the power of open communication and the importance of building trust among family members. I’m passionate about helping individuals to optimise their performance and realise their potential in their business endeavours.

FBI offers me the opportunity to participate in building a community of professional advisers who are genuinely willing to share and build on what they’ve learnt over many years of working with businesses of all types and sizes. This will be professionally stimulating for all of the advisers and will make Australia a world leader in the provision of advisory services to business families.

Drew Ginn OAM

Faculty Member at FBI;
Professional Presenter, Facilitator & Coach;
Olympic Rower with 3 x Gold & Silver Medals

Skills Development: Sustainable High Performance, Impact Learning, Leadership & Teams, Continuity Planning

As a member of Australia’s rowing team I’ve won 5 World Championships, 3 Olympic Golds, and one Olympic Silver medal. My international sporting career spans 18 years – quite a feat of longevity, made possible by what I learnt and applied on the journey about personal and group focus, energy, leadership, teamwork, culture and attitude.

My background in sport, and my love of teaching and working with others, encouraged me to research and develop models, systems and tools to help businesses, leaders and teams achieve consistently better results.

FBI gives me the opportunity to bring tailored versions of my programs into the family business space – where they can be used for the benefit of adviser teams and for family businesses themselves.

I’ve built my education skills working in Melbourne Business School’s Mt Eliza’s Executive Education programs; at the Bluearth Institute’s Program for Coach and Teacher training and development; and with Rowing Australia as National Head Coach and Performance Advisor. I’ve also been part owner of a retail bicycle business: Podium Bikehub.

Ken Whitters

BEc, Grad Dip Business, MACS, MAICD

Faculty Member at FBI;
Diagnostic Survey Specialist & Leadership Coach;
Associate, Melbourne Business School & Lee Hecht Harrison

I have a broad business background, as a senior executive at The Alfred Hospital, Honda Australia, Ansett Australia and at the Melbourne Business School. I also have secret level clearance with the Australian Federal Police.

Much of my consulting, facilitation, training and coaching experience has been earned working with family businesses. I’m excited to be working with FBI to develop a full suite of world class, web-based diagnostic assessment tools to help family business advisers, and their family business clients, get really accurate information about where they are, where they want to be, and how best to get there.

My other main areas of interest are in leadership development, culture forming, change management, strategy development, team development, stress management / resilience building, staff engagement, communication skills, customer skills and performance management.

I’m accredited to use a variety of psychometric and leadership tools, which I use to help individuals better understand the elements of the “human raw material” they’re working with.
